Sergeant Stagwillo distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 107th Field Signal Battalion, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Juvigny, France, 28 August 1918, in repairing telephone lines under heavy machine gun and artillery fire.
