Spidle (ASN: 1457475), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Corporal Spidle distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 139th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Fleville, France, 26 September 1918, while directing a small group in an attack on an enemy machine gun until twice wounded.
