By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private First Class Louis Rusecky (ASN: 550920), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company F, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the Battle of the Marne, 15 July 1918, Private Rusecky was in Headquarters Platoon when, taking advantage of an abandoned automatic rifle, the gunner having been killed, he kept a harassing fire upon the advancing enemy. The gun was knocked out of his hands during this and the tripod was broken. Private Rusecky procured the rifle again and using the rock as a rest, continued the effective fire upon the enemy for the duration of the day’s battle.
