Roesch (ASN: 1709312), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Major Roesch distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the 2d Battalion, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action in the Argonne Forest, France, 3 – 7 October 1918, in maintaining liaison and giving aid to the wounded under enemy fire.
