By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Headquarters, 3d Division, A.E.F., Citation Orders No. 22 (July 8, 1919) United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Captain Raht led his company through the battle of 25 and 26 July 1918, around Charteves and Jaulgonne. He made all the required advance successfully and consolidated the position won. The Company was without rations, but he maintained the men in position and kept them well in hand, until relieved the night of 25 – 26 July. His coolness and leadership saved a very dangerous situation.

Captain Raht distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Charteves and Jaulgonne, France, 25 – 26 July 1918, and by his brilliant leadership.
