No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private James McRay (ASN: 1872139), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private McRay distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company L, 371st Infantry Regiment, 93d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Ardeuil, France, 30 September 1918, in setting up his automatic rifle in an open field in plain view of the enemy and attacking an enemy field piece.
