Headquarters, II Corps, General Orders No. 14 (March 7, 1943)
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Roy A. Murray (ASN: 0-32782), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 1st Ranger Battalion, on the early morning of 12 February 1943, in the vicinity 5 miles west of Sened Station, Tunisia. Captain Murray led his company in the assault of the high ground which was held by the enemy and protected by machine gun and cannon emplacements. He was personally responsible for the mission of knocking out a 50-mm. machine gun which contributed to the successful results which were achieved. The courage and leadership displayed by Captain Murray, inspired great effort on the part of the men in his company which is highly commendable.
