By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Peal C. Laughrey (ASN: 3484810), United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Laughrey distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 112th Machine-Gun Battalion, 29th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action in the Bois de Consenvoyne, France, 15 October 1918, in remaining at his post in a machine gun position and operating his gun during a heavy enemy barrage.
