No. 43, W.D., 1918), Corporal George Goeldner (ASN: 43983), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Corporal Goeldner distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company K, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Fleville, France, 9 October 1918, while directing his squad in an attack on an enemy machine-gun position.
