No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Nick Deluca (ASN: 549489), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Deluca distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Moulins, France, 18 July 1918, while carrying rations to the front lines during enemy bombardment.

No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Nick Deluca (ASN: 549489), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. Private Deluca displayed conspicuous bravery while serving with Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 18 July, at the Marne River. Private Deluca had been assigned to a ration carrying detail, which was suddenly subjected to a burst of exceptionally heavy shell fire. The other members of the detail dropped their load and took cover, but Private Deluca continued on until he had reached the platoon for which the rations were intended. Although suffering from gas, he made three successive trips. Through continuous shell fire, until he had carried the entire load of rations.
