Glatting (ASN: 542165), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with Company H, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 16 July 1918, at Fossoy, France, Sergeant Glatting exhibited fearless leadership and exceptional ability in inspiring confidence in the men of his platoon, enabling them to advance into territory occupied by the enemy and take up a position northwest of Mezy in a wooded area.
