Sergeant Dunham distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company M, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action 10 – 12 October 1918, near Madeleine Farm, France, in giving aid to the wounded under heavy enemy fire.
