Dial (ASN: 1800870), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Dial distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 368th Infantry Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, in action in the Vosges Sector, France, 1 October 1918, in aiding in the rescue of a wounded officer under direct machine gun and snipers’ fire.
