Collins (ASN: 1633248), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the Medical Detachment, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, on 23 July 1918, when the company had reached its objective and was under heavy shell fire, near Jaulgonne, France, Private Collins rendered invaluable service in caring for the wounded and moved up and down the firing line without regard for his personal safety, displaying coolness and daring.
