By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Second Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Frederic C. Bellinger, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Lieutenant Bellinger displayed exceptional heroism near Brand Ballois Ferme, France, 15 July 1918; in the Fere Forest 23 – 25 July 1918; and near Le Charmel and Roncheres, 26 July to 1 August 1918, exposing himself to great danger while acting as Liaison Officer with Infantry units. He rendered important services in the preservation of proper liaison.
