The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Morris H. Kimmel (ASN: 35219405), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 35th Infantry Division, in action near ****, France, on 10 November 1944. The Aid Man of Company B, *** Infantry Regiment was fired upon and wounded in both legs and a hand as he administered first aid to a wounded enemy officer. Acting with utter disregard for personal safety, Private Kimmel, a rifleman, voluntarily and without hesitation, went forward, alternately crawling and dashing from cover to cover in the face of intense enemy machine gun and small arms fire, and courageously assisted the wounded aid man to a place of safety. His gallant action, evidencing the highest degree of personal bravery and loyalty to a wounded comrade, reflects the highest credit upon his character as a soldier and is in keeping with the traditions of the military service.
