(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private First Class Leo L. Luckasavage, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while serving as a rifleman with the 4th Infantry Division, in France, during World War II. Private First Class Luckasavage what directing his squad, many of whom had not previously been in combat, under heavy enemy artillery fire. His words of encouragement and instructions were such an incentive to the men that they gained fire superiority and repelled an enemy counterattack which had been in progress. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
