Headquarters, 37th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 369 (November 15, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Stanley F. Taylor (ASN: 37545103), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 129th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 23 April 1945. When an enemy machine gun held up his battalion’s advance along the road to Bauio, Private First Class Taylor deliberately exposed himself in order to throw grenades at the Japanese position. Failing to knock out the gun, he ran fifty yards in full view of the enemy to get more ammunition. He then crept to within a few yards of the hostile weapon, three five grenades and wiped out the emplacement. Private First Class Taylor’s heroic action permitted his battalion to continue its advance on Baguio. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Taylor, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
