The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Everett A. Tronson (ASN: 37163145), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 129th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 22 April 1945. During an attack against an enemy-held hill, a member of Sergeant Tronson’s platoon was wounded, and lay in an exposed position on top of a ridge. Sergeant Tronson promptly ordered the remainder of his men to take cover, and crawled to the assistance of his injured comrade. Intense hostile machine gun fire prevented Sergeant Tronson from lifting the casualty off the ground. However, he managed to drag the man down the hill to a sheltered position, from which he was successfully evacuated. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
