Headquarters, 37th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 61 (March 22, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Harold K. Moline (ASN: 20504133), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 9 February 1945. While the platoon of which Private First Class Moline was a member moved out across a debris littered area through an open field covered by Japanese machine gun fire in a frontal assault on the Paco Railroad Station, several of its members were wounded. To permit the evacuation of our casualties, Private First Class Moline crawled to a position fifty-yards from the enemy gun emplacements, poured twenty rounds of bazooka ammunition into the building, kept the enemy-occupied and on the defensive while the wounded men were moved to safety. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Moline, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
