    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Staff Sergeant Forest Williford (ASN: 38125480), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division in action on 17 November 1944 in the vicinity of Kenages, France. During the initial assault to seize and establish the town as a road block, a concealed enemy machine gun temporarily halted the advance after an unsuccessful attempt to locate the enemy gun. Staff Sergeant Williford, voluntarily and at risk of his life, bravely moved into direct view of the enemy in order to definitely locate the enemy position. During this action, Staff Sergeant Williford was mortally wounded. By his courageous self-sacrifice, the enemy gun was located, knocked out and the objective taken. His gallantry was in accordance with high military traditions.
