On 18 August 1944, near ****, France, when during an engagement with the enemy, the armored car of which Private First Class Signa was a crew member, was hit and disabled, Private First Class Signa immediately dismounted, joined the foot troops fighting on the ground, and under heavy enemy fire assisted in the capture of the town of ****. His conduct in joining and inspiring those around him in the advance displayed fine qualities of leadership and was in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
