The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Third Grade Joseph J. Selmer (ASN: 12051242), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 90th Infantry Division in Northern France. On 7 August 1944 at ****, France, during an attack on the village, Technician Third Grade Selmer voluntarily drove his vehicle down a road under enemy fire and evacuated a badly wounded soldier. This gallant action on the part of Technician Third Grade Selmer was in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
