The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Field Artillery) D. Kenneth Reimers (ASN: 0-271586), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 90th Infantry Division in Northern France. On 8 August 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Reimers showed aggressive leadership and gallant action in giving close support to a fast moving column driving on ****, France. At ****, France, on 8 August 1944 he went forward personally under enemy fire, kept his battalion displacing by batteries, personally reconnoitered forward positions and sought forward observation. His aggressive and courageous action resulted in rapidly pushing back the enemy, destroying their positions and numerous armored vehicles supporting the defenses, and the ultimate capture of some 12,000 of the enemy troops.
