The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) William T. Rafferty (ASN: 0-1293832), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 358th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division in action on 9 November 1944 in the vicinity of Koenigamacher, France. In an attack on the enemy, First Lieutenant Rafferty, Platoon Leader, directed his men so skillfully and aggressively that the platoon destroyed two enemy anti-tank guns, captured three pillboxes and one gun emplacement.
