Headquarters, 90th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 63 (September 15, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Peter P. Perciaccanto (ASN: 0-1324738), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 90th Infantry Division in Northern France. On 6 August 1944, in the vicinity of ****, France, when the company which he was supporting with heavy machine guns was struck by heavy enemy fire and pinned down, Lieutenant Perciaccanto turned his machine gun platoon over to his second in command, crawled forward of friendly lines to within 15 yards of an enemy machine gun position and he attacked the machine gun throwing two hand grenades and knocking out the gun, thus facilitating the advance of the company. This gallant act was in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
