(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Service Medal (Air Force) (Posthumously) to General Muir Stephen Fairchild (ASN: 0-10555/8A), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during the period from 10 January 1946 to 17 March 1950, culminating as Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Fairchild and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
