The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant Robert W. Bollish (ASN: 38148588), United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 315th Engineer Combat Battalion, 90th Infantry Division in action on 24 November 1944 in the vicinity of Tettingen, Germany. Attached to the ** Platoon of Company **, 315th Engineer Combat Battalion, Sergeant Bollish, Squad Leader, and five of his men demolished three enemy pillboxes. Then, when a heavily armed enemy fortification held up the advance of the Infantry, he led his men to the building where they placed and detonated demolition charges that weakened the fortification. Sergeant Bollish was killed in this action, but his performance made possible the subsequent capture of the objective. His gallantry was in accordance with military tradition.
