    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class Doyle J. Davis, United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in extended aerial flight from Coco Solo, Canal Zone, to David, Republic of Panama, on 14 December 1933, when in unfavorable weather conditions and after being authorized by the pilot to abandon the plane, Aviation Machinist’s Mate Second Class Davis remained at his post and was instrumental in regaining control of the plane and preventing the crash, thereby saving the lives of all occupants.
