The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Edward C. Krzyzowski (ASN: 0-1310728), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company B, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 24 May 1951, in the vicinity of Majjon, Korea. On that day Company B was attacking two well-entrenched enemy machine gun positions on Hill 1099. With complete disregard for personal safety, Lieutenant Krzyzowski spearheaded the attack, exposing himself continually to the intense enemy automatic weapons fire. His courage and fearlessness so encouraged his troops that they rushed the enemy and completely destroyed the objectives, inflicting numerous casualties on the enemy force. Lieutenant Krzyzowski’s gallantry in action, fearlessness, and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
