Pennell (ASN: 0-1297243), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, in action in France on 12 June 1944.
