The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General William F. Georgi, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Georgi distinguished himself as Deputy Director for International Negotiations, Plans and Policy Directorate, Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Deputy Commissioner to the United States Standing Consultative Commission from 4 May 1973 to 31 May 1975. In these important assignments the leadership, exemplary perception and ceaseless dedication consistently demonstrated by General Georgi resulted in significant contributions to national security planning by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a broad spectrum of politico/military matters associated with arms control and disarmament and contributed greatly to the achievement of national objectives and to improved foreign relations. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Georgi culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
