(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Sergeant Harold W. Slaybaugh, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 9th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 13 December 1944 near Derichsweiler, Germany. Sergeant Slaybaugh exposed himself to enemy fire on four occasions to repair and maintain lines of communication. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
