(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Lawrence T. Faulkner, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 9th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations during World War II. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Lawrence Thomas Faulkner, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 9th Infantry Division in North Africa. On the morning of 29 March 1943, during an attack on Hill 369, east of El Guettar, Sergeant Faulkner left his foxhole and exposed himself to enemy observation and machine gun fire to pull a seriously wounded company officer out of the line of machine gun and mortar fire. His act saved the officer from further injury. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
