The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Frank Colacicco (ASN: 0-23174), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action at Saint Cloud, Algeria, 9 November 1942. During the Oran offensive, Captain Colacicco, in command of a platoon of 75-mm. half tracks, made a complete and successful reconnaissance of Saint Cloud in the face of heavy enemy fire. This reconnaissance enabled accurate dispositions of the enemy and contributed materially to the success of the attack. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Colacicco, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
