(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to First Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Nicholas J. Chelenza, United States Army, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy while serving with Headquarters Battery, 5th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by First Lieutenant Chelenza reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
