The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal John Boker (ASN: 6853529), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, during he period from January to May 1943. Although painfully wounded in an assault upon the enemy and, despite intense enemy fire, Corporal Boker remained with his squad until it had attained its objective. His bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
