The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star to Sergeant Alexander Cohen, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious service in a combat zone serving as the Non-commissioned Officer in charge of the CJ-2, Intelligence and Knowledge DevelopmentX, Headquarters, International Security Assistance Force, Kabul, Afghanistan, from 27 July 2010 to 1 August 2011 during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. At great personal risk, Sergeant Cohen served as Convoy Commander for 215 CJ-2, Intelligence and Knowledge DevelopmentX missions outside the wire throughout Kabul and beyond. Known for his tactical expertise in the field during periods of elevated threat, multiple General Officers routinely requested Sergeant Cohen by name to provide security for their tactical maneuvers during outside the wire operations. Sergeant Cohen’s actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect distinct credit upon himself, the United States Army, and the Department of Defense.
