The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Paul C. Bailey (ASN: 6920107), United States Army, for Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, during World War II. Private Bailey went forward under heavy enemy fire on numerous occasions to render first aid and to supervise the evacuation of the seriously wounded. His disregard for his personal safety saved the lives of many of our soldiers. Private First Class Bailey’s gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
