The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fourth Grade Joseph R. Archambault (ASN: 6702815), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Ferme Combier, Algeria, on 9, 10, & 11 November 1942. During the Oran Offensive, Technician Fourth Grade Archambault, while assisting in the care of the wounded at an aid station, displayed great courage and utter disregard of personal safety in moving, with the aid of five paroled prisoners, 140 rounds of 90-mm. enemy ammunition from the vicinity of the aid station while continually under heavy enemy fire. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
