(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Thaddeus Francis Dziuban (ASN: 0-25007), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, In action against the enemy at Normandy, France, on 18 June 1944. First Lieutenant Dziuban was leading his anti-tank platoon during an operation in which this battalion made a night move of five miles through the enemy lines to cut the Cherbourg Peninsula, when his platoon was attacked by an enemy dive bomber, mortally wounding him. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Dziuban, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
