    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Antoine P. Dennis (ASN: 16020757), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in Tunisia in 1943. Private First Class Dennis, without orders from his Company Commander or his Section Leader, and upon his own initiative and with the aid of other members of his wire team, went in under a heavy artillery barrage to repair the ** Battalion’s communication line which had been blown up by artillery fire. At this time the Battalion was located six miles east of ****, Tunisia in a Wadi. The communication line was completely destroyed and unable to be repaired. Upon their own initiative they set up their equipment and put in a completely new line. This work was accomplished at the risk of their lives and without regard to personal safety on ** April 1943.
