The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Raymond B. Crosby (ASN: 19005158), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action while serving with the XII Air Support Command, TWELFTH Air Force. On 14 February 1943, Corporal Crosby was helping to set up a radio station of an Air Support Party when twenty enemy tanks approached from over the crest of a hill. He then helped to destroy radio equipment and secret documents. The courage and skill displayed by this soldier reflects great credit to himself and his service to the United States Armed Forces was invaluable.
