(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Sergeant Wilmer L. Mahugh, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with the 36th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 13 March 1945 in France. Sergeant Mahugh dashed across no man’s land to bring in a wounded American Aid Man. He then took the supplies left by the rescued soldier and handled the first aid job himself, although still under fire. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
