The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Staff Sergeant Allen L. Isham (ASN: 32840752), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 36th Infantry Division during World War II. Volunteering on three successive nights to make dangerous reconnaissance patrols of the enemy-held bank of a river in Italy, he courageously crossed the treacherous waters and skillfully obtained valuable information of enemy emplacements, strength and disposition. Constantly exposed to enemy fire and repeatedly risking discovery by the hostile troops, he completed a through reconnaissance of the area where severe casualties has been sustained.
