The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private First Class Carson Richardson (ASN: 7082276), United States Army, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy while serving with the 305th Military Police Escort Company, 106th Infantry Division, on 6 September 1944, in England. When a British bomber crashed in a nearby field and burst into flames, Private First Class Richardson and another soldier rushed to the scene of the accident. The airplane, with its crew trapped inside, was blazing furiously and its ammunition exploding. Heedless of the danger, Private First Class Richardson and his companion returned repeatedly to the burning wreck and rescued the six man crew.
