Citation Needed – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes Pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Alexander W. Wisnowski, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in Tunisia, in 1943. Private Wisnowski volunteered to drive a vehicle which had one wheel completely over a steep cliff and which was blocking a main supply route. Through excellent maneuvering Private Wisnowski succeeded in getting the vehicle back on the road thereby re-opening the supply route. His calmness and good judgment in the presence of great danger was an aid in the evacuation of many casualties. Private Wisnowski’s gallant actions and selfless devotion to duty, without regard for his own safety, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
