    Citation Needed – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes Pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Donald Joseph Tarbet, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 5th Army, in action in Italy, during amphibious landings in 1943. When his landing craft stalled 75 yards from the shore, Sergeant Tarbet risked his life under heavy accurate enemy fire, and placed himself in peril in order to save his fellow soldiers. Sergeant Tarbet’s gallant actions and selfless devotion to duty, without regard for his own safety, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
