The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Armor), [then Second Lieutenant] Martin E. Quinn (ASN: 0-1012619), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 245th Tank Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Normandy, France, on 9 June 1944. First Lieutenant Quinn’s outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 1st Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
