Headquarters, 34th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 125 (August 12, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Moses M. Glushakow (ASN: 33733099), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 133d Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division, in action on 7 October 1944, in Italy. Private First Class Glushakow noticed two enemy soldiers emplacing a machine gun on the side of the road, about thirty yards to his front. He immediately opened fire with his rifle, killing one and wounding the other who was taken prisoner. Covered by a Browning Automatic Rifle, Private First Class Glushakow made his way forward to within sixty yards of the house when he was fired upon from the upper windows of the house. In spite of the heavy fire which rained about him, Private First Class Glushakow crawled to within twenty-five yards of the house and forced six of the enemy to surrender by throwing hand grenades into the building. Leaving the prisoners with his squad, Private First Class Glushakow then went to search the building. When a machine gun opened fire upon his squad he immediately laid harassing fire upon the position and allowed his squad to withdraw to safety. A bazooka shell then shattered the room from which he was firing. This enemy was quickly located and forced to flee, leaving his weapon. By this time the house had become the target for mortar and artillery fire and Private First Class Glushakow was forced to rejoin his squad. The courage and aggressiveness displayed by Private First Class Glushakow reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
